Activities at Okuku

Okuku Country Estate is an outstanding destination in any of our four distinct seasons, each delivering its own special character.

Spring is spectacular with brilliant bursts of colour everywhere, soft warm days and cool evenings.

Summer is hot with long summer days turning into warm restful nights and allows for relaxing in the pool, sunbathing on the terrace, or finding a shady spot to read or just catnap.

Autumn is breathtaking when the woodlands take on an ethereal look with shafts of late summer sun illuminating the vibrant shades of red, orange and yellow.

Then in winter Okuku becomes an inviting haven with roaring log fires, crisp frosty mornings followed by bright sunny days and the occasional snowfall turning everything into a winter wonderland.

On the Estate

Without even leaving the Estate, you can enjoy the extensive 100 acre parklands and farm, which include croquet lawn, woodland walks, quiet picnic spots and barbecue area.

From the Estate

Okuku Country Estate is nestled at the base of the North Canterbury foothills with an outlook to Mount Thomas. The region offers bush walks, the Ashley Gorge river reserve, golf courses, wineries, jet boating, hot springs, and skiing, all from a few minutes to 90 minutes drive.

You may also take our bikes from the Estate to explore the countryside or forest trails.
